Zoo Gives Elderly Gorilla a Pet Bunny

The Erie Zoo in Pennsylvania gave a bunny to its elderly western lowland gorilla. The zoo says Samantha, 47, is too old to be paired with another gorilla. So, they have given her Panda, a Dutch rabbit, as a companion instead. The gorilla had been living alone since 2005. The Erie Zoo says the Samantha and Panda have hit it off. A photograph of the gorilla and black and white rabbit sitting side by side can be seen here. These videos, shot recently by YouTube coppscavies, show the gorilla and panda sharing hay and sitting next to each other in the exhibit. Take a look:
