Video: Pygmy Marmoset Twin Babies at Perth Zoo

Posted on March 21, 2011

The Perth Zoo recently had another breeding success with pygmy marmosets. These twin pygmy marmosets were born on 19 January 2011. The babies ride on their mother's back for a month or two after being born. Pygmy marmosets travel in groups of five to ten and there is just one breeding pair in the group. The mother pictured in this video is the female of the zoo's breeding pair. In the wild the tiny creatures (body length of just 12-15 cm) are found in rainforest habitat in South America.
