Video of Major Hurricane Irene from International Space Station

The International Space Station captured this footage of powerful Hurricane Irene from 230 miles above the Earth. Hurricane Irene was a category three over the Bahamas at the time the footage was taken - 3:10 p.m. EDT on August 24, 2011. Irene is expected to strengthen to a Category 4 storm before it reaches the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is then expected to head into the middle Atlantic and New England states where the damage to coastal beaches and buildings could be extensive. Take a look:
