Tropical Storm Flossie Headed for Hawaii

Tropical Storm Flossie is headed for Hawaii. The storm is located about 770 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii. Flossie is expected to continue on westward path and cross The Big Island on Monday. A tropical storm watch has been issued for Hawaii and Maui counties.

The maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Flossie is expected to weaken slightly during the next 48 hours, but it is still expected to be a tropical storm when it arrives in Hawaii. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles from the center. The minimum pressure is 1000 mb, 29.53 inches.

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center has information about Flossie here. KHON2 reports that a flash flood watch has been issued for all the Hawaiian islands. KHON2 says the tropical storm event is expected to begin Monday for the eastern islands and Tuesday for the western islands.

Update 7-28: Maximum Flossie winds increased to 60 mph.
