Posted on August 16, 2006

A shocking new study that has found that the number of overweight babies and small children has increased significantly in the last twenty years. The study conducted over a twenty year period found that the number of overweight babies between birth to 6-months-old has jumped 74%.

It sounds bad and it could be if these babies are being born with serious weight issues. Meanwhile, an article on WebMD talks about a study from India that found higher baby weight led to leaner adults. And then there is another study that suggests rapid infant weight gain may be a sign of future obesity problems in childhood. Where the infant weight gain is disturbing is if it is bad enough that it leads to adolescents with heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
