South Korean Prison Gets World's First Robot Prison Guard

A prison in South Korea has the first robot prison guard in the world. The prison guard observes the behavior of the prisoners. If it detects any abnormal behavior it sounds an alarm to send the human guards running. The robot can also detect some repeated inmate behaviors in advance. The robot guard can also serve as a communication tool between prisoners and guards.

Ben Gruber reporting for Reuters says the robot could replace human guards in some prisons. We don't think it is advanced enough yet to do that. Take a look:
