Posted on March 28, 2012

Boston Dynamics has created an 11 pound robot, named Sand Flea, that can perform vertical leaps up to 30 feet in the air. The video released by Boston Dynamics shows Sand Flea jumping on and off a building roof and over a rocky cliff. The robot contains an onboard stabilization system to keep it oriented during flight. The little leaping bot was funded by The US Army's Rapid Equipping Force. Take a look:

Automaton says Sand Flea originated with the fence jumping Precision Urban Hopper, a project between Sandia Labs and Boston Dynamics.
