Planck Mission Reveals Map Showing Oldest Light in Universe

Posted on March 21, 2013

The Planck mission has revealed a map showing the oldest light in our universe. NASA is calling it the "Best Map Ever of the Universe." The ancient light in the map dates back to when the universe was just 370,000 years old. The ancient light is known as the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). You can view a larger version of the map here.

NASA says the map shows "tiny temperature fluctuations that correspond to regions of slightly different densities, representing the seeds of all future structure: the stars and galaxies of today."
