Physicists Explain What Would Happen If You Stuck Your Hand in the Large Hadron Collider

Sixty Symbols asked physicists working at the Large Hadron Collider what would happen to you if you stuck your hand in front of the beam in the Large Hadron Collider. Safety protocols prohibit this, but if it were possible, the LHC scientists say the intense beam itself would cut a hole straight through your hand. The intense proton beam is also followed by lots of other particles that accompany the small focused part of the beam, so your whole body would be irradiated and you would die. Take a look:
