Posted on August 31, 2011

This photograph was taken by NASA's Juno spacecraft, which is on its long five-year journey to Jupiter. Juno's camera, JunoCam, took the photograph on August 26th, when it was about six million miles from Earth.

Scott Bolton, Juno principal investigator from the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, said in a NASA release, "This is a remarkable sight people get to see all too rarely,. This view of our planet shows how Earth looks from the outside, illustrating a special perspective of our role and place in the universe. We see a humbling yet beautiful view of ourselves."
