CNN reports that people are planning viewing parties for the upcoming Ring of Fire annular solar eclipse.
A NASA report says the Moon will cover as much as 94% of the Sun during the eclipse. It will be visible to hundreds of millions of people from southeast Asia to the western parts of North America. The Shadow & Substance website has maps showing how the eclipse will look in different countries and in U.S. states. It also gives the times the eclipse will be visible. The Slooh Space Camera will be streaming live feeds from telescopes during the eclipse starting at 5:30 p.m. EDT. There is also a live stream from Area 51 here.
Here is a video from NASA about the annual solar eclipse. Take a look:
Millions of people watched the rare Ring of Fire annual eclipse yesterday. Hopefully, everyone took the appropriate safety precautions. The eclipse, viewable in parts of Asia and North America, blacked out all but a portion of the Sun. Tokyo residents came out in droves to watch the eclipse.
Thousands of people also watched the annular eclipse in Folsom Field on CU Boulder's campus. The eclipse was slightly obscured by cloud cover, but still provided some amazing views.
