Lone Signal Website Will Let Users Send Tweets to Gliese 526

Posted on June 17, 2013

CNN reports that Lone Signal is launching a website that will let users send tweets to Gliese 526, a star 17.6 light years from Earth. The first tweet to Gliese 526 is free. After that CNN says tweets to the star can be purchased in blocks of four for 99 cents.

Scientific American reports that we do not know yet if Gliese 526 has any planets orbiting around it, but it probably does. Astronomers shared findings last year that indicate most stars having at least one planet. The tweets will be sent into space from the Jamesburg Earth Station. The tweets will also be delivered to the star in binary code.
