Posted on September 27, 2011

A 5-year-old girl caught a piranha in a Texas lake located near Houston. The girl used part of a hot dog as bait. Once captured, the piranha bit her brother. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department authorities say piranhas won't be a problem in the lake (or other Texas lakes) because they say the winter is too cold for them to survive. The piranha is likely a pet that someone released in the lake. KPRC's Mary Lee says piranha possession is a crime in Texas. Take a look:

In other piranha news, 100 beachgoers in Brazil had their toes and feet bitten by piranhas and had to seek treatment.
