LED Stop Lights Fail in Winter Weather

Here is a downside to new LED lighting. LED stop lights do not generate enough heat to melt ice and snow off them in the winter time. The AP reports that in Green Bay, Wisonsin the LED stop lights are operating but drivers are having trouble seeing whether a light is green or red at stop lights because they are covered with snow.

City workers are having to go around and scrap snow off the lights one by one. Take a look:
