Large Dust Devil Captured on Video in Tucson

This large dust devil was captured on video by Neil Martinez under clear skies this past weekend in Tucson, Arizona. The dust devil can be seen near a building. It has an impressive base and the dust reaches high into the sky. The dust devil is big by Earth standards, but on Mars dust devils can be 12 miles high. Strong ground surface heating - hotter than the air above it - is needed to create dust devils. NASA explains the science behind dust devils here. Take a look:
