Filmmakers Get Up Close Footage of Lava Lake in Vanuatu's Marum Volcano

Filmmaker Geoff Mackley and his crew, Bradley Ambrose and Nathan Berg, journeyed down to Marum Volcano's lava lake on Ambrym Island, Vanuatu to get a look right up close. They got as close as 30 meters (100 feet) to the lava and recorded amazing footage. Mackley says on his website that without protection they could only stand the intense heat for six seconds. By wearing a heat suit and Fire Brigade breathing apparatus it was possible to stand next to the lave lake for over 40 minutes. The first video contains the incredible footage of the lava lake. The second video shows the journey into the volcano to record the footage. Take a look:
