Festo Unveils BionicOpter, a Robotic Dragonfly

Festo has unveiled BionicOpter, its impressive blue dragonfly robot. The four winged robot has a wingspan of 70 centimeters (27.5 inches) and a body length of 48 centimeters (19 inches). It weighs just 175 grams and features an amplitude controller. The lightweight wings are made of a carbon-fiber frame covered with a thin foil covering.

Festo says the remote-controlled robot can fly up and down, forwards, backwards and sideways. It can fly in all directions and hover in mid-air. The specs for BionicOpter can be found at the end of this document (PDF). Take a look:
