Delta Pounds Canary Islands. Epsilon Forms.

Posted on November 29, 2005

Delta battered the Canary Islands killing seven and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. The Cape Times reports that the storm blew a man off his roof on the island of Fuerteventura. It also killed six African migrants who drowned after their boat capsized.

An entry on NASA's Earth Observatory has satellite imagery of the storm from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite.

Delta was the 25th storm in this extraordinarily busy Atlantic hurricane season.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Epsilon, the 26th storm of the record breaking season, has formed in the Atlantic. Epsilon is not forecast to hit land but could bring strong surf to Bermuda. This year's tropical season seems to never end. It will end officially on November 30th -- but Epsilon will still be around and there is no guarantee that there won't be another system in December.
