Coronavirus Deaths Pass 1,000 Mark

Posted on February 10, 2020

The total number of deaths from the coronavirus have passed the 1,000 mark. All but 2 of the deaths have occurred in China.

China's Hubei province announced 2,097 cases and 103 new deaths today. This brings the total death toll to 1013. These numbers do not include the latest figures from China's other provinces which will be released later today. BNO News has been reporting the new cases daily on Twitter:

The continuing large number of cases out of China comes as there is some confusion over what constitutes a case according to the Chinese government. There have been reports that China does not want to include cases in its total count where the patient tests positive but has no symptoms. This would directly contradict the WHO guidelines. It would also cause confusion and make the virus appear less contagious.
