Burning Man Festival From Space

Posted on September 2, 2011

The Burning Man festival is an annual event held in Nevada's Black Rock Desert. About 50,000 people attend the art and music festival, which is dedicated to radical self-expression.

The ESA's Proba-1's High Resolution Camera (HRC) captured the festival from space i 2011. Camper vans and tents can be seen in the satellite image. You can see the satellite photograph on Christian Science Monitor and space.com.

A much closer to Earth view was captured by Eddie Codel in 2013 using a drone. The drone view gives you a much better idea of what the festival is like.
