Boston Dynamics Builds Robotic Beast Named AlphaDog to Carry Heavy Payloads for Miles and Miles

This four-legged robot, called AlphaDog, is being developed by Boston Dynamics for military use. AlphaDog will be able to carry payloads as heavy as 400 lbs on 20-mile missions over rough terrain. The headless robot will be ready for real missions in 2012. In this video, AlphaDog climbs rocks and logs and moves swiftly. Engineers try to kick and push over AlphaDog to no avail. If knocked over, AlphaDog can right itself. Take a look:
