Australian Warship Sunk to Become Artificial Reef

The HMAS Adelaide, an Australian warship, has been sunk 1.8 kilometers off the coast off Avoca Beach in New South Wales. The plan is for the warship to become a large artificial reef. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the sinking of the ship had been delayed for over 12 months because of protests, cleaning operations and a pod of dolphins that decided to linger in the area. A dive site will be set up over the sunken ship.
