Asus Unveils Zenbo Robot at Computex 2016

Asus has unveiled a robotic companion named Zenbo at Computex 2016. Zenbo has a digital screen for a face and a roundish body. It was designed to provide reminders, provide information and entertainment and control smart home devices.

Zenbo can recognize faces with its camera. It can provide important reminders, such as telling someone it is time to take their medication. It can read stories to children and provide learning games. Zenbo can also be used as a remote camera.

Asus chairman Jonney Shis says in the announcement, "For decades, humans have dreamed of owning such a companion: one that is smart, dear to our hearts, and always at our disposal. Our ambition is to enable robotic computing for every household."

Asus has launched a developer program so programmers can create applications for Zenbo. You can find out more about the robot and the developer program here. Fortune reports that it will cost $599. A release date has not yet been announced.

Asus released this video of Zenbo in action where it helps out humans. It shows Zenbo helping out a busy mom with a recipe. It also reminds a man to take his blood pressure. Zenbo also reads bedtime stories. Take a look:
