Idaho Anthropology Professor Plans to Launch Blimp to Find Bigfoot

Posted on November 5, 2012

Reuters reports that Idaho State University anthropology professor Jeffrey Meldrum plans to launch a blimp to help locate Bigfoot. Meldrum is also the author of a book about Bigfoot, called Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science.

Bigfoot is a large hairy ape-like creature that has never been found to exist. However, there have been many reports of encounters, some of which have been proven as hoaxes. You can find a list of some of the most recent Bifoot encounters and news at bigfootencounters.com.

Bigfoot is disputed by many scientists, but Idaho State University has approved the blimp. However, Reuters says Meldrum still needs to raise over $300,00 in private donations to build the blimp that will seek to locate Bigfoot from the air using a thermal-imaging camera.

Meldrum told Reuters, "The challenge with any animal that is rare, solitary, nocturnal and far-ranging in habitat is to find them and observe them in the wild; this technology provides for that."

The blimp search for Bigfoot is known as The Falcon Project. It is described as "the most penetrating search for Sasquatch/North American Ape ever conducted in North America."
