NASA Video Shows Superstorm Sandy From Birth to Landfall

Posted on October 30, 2012

This NASA video shows Superstorm Sandy from birth in the central Caribbean on October 21 to landfall in New Jersey on October 29. NOAA's GOES-13 and GOES-15 satellites captured global images of Hurricane Sandy along its journey over Jamaica and Cuba and into the Bahamas and then along the east coast until it took its unusual northwest hook into New Jersey.

The monster storm is responsible for floods in Haiti, devastation along the New Jersey coast, swamped subways in NYC, blizzard conditions in West Virginia, 8 million+ power outages in the U.S., 20 foot waves in Lake Michigan and much more. Take a look:

The above image was acquired by NASA's Aqua statellite on October 29th at 2:20 pm EDT.
